The initial road section runs South with great views of Eastnor Castle and is a downhill section. As runners join the central road, the route starts to climb slowly towards the split point at Golden Gates Lodge. On the first pass the runners bear left and loop around the side of the gate house. The next section is wooded and moves from tarmac road to farm track, which a winding decent as the route bears left and downhill.
The road on the far left of the map below is a flat farm track, a good section for picking up speed. The route cuts across a field at the bottom left of the map and heads towards the central road once again where there are good views of the event village over to the right hand side. At the gate house this time around, runners bear right and head down a fast hill before taking a left turn to loop around the Far End Fields. The final stretch is road before a final downhill 75m to the finish line and lap point.
There is 120m of elevation on this 4.167 mile loop. There are no large ascents on this route, the main climbing comes in the form a gradual rise on the centre road which runners cover twice during each lap. There is one particularly glorious descent at the start of loop 2, referring to the map above.
